A Letter From The Mayor
Dear Friends,
As Mayor of Gaffney, I want to welcome you to our getintogaffney-sc.com website, and to thank you for your interest in our city and all that it offers our residents and visitors. I am proud to tell you that a strong community spirit shared by the citizens and government; a love for history and preservation combined with a dedication to revitalization and progress; a commitment to the arts and education; a favorable tax structure; and our prime location on the “golden corridor” between Charlotte, North Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina, provide a quality of life for our residents that would be hard to match anywhere else. In Gaffney, you will find tree-lined streets, close friends and neighbors, parks, historic homes, shop owners who know you by name, and the safety of a small town, yet all the benefits of a big city are less than an hour away.
Here on our website you will find information about the history of Gaffney and local demographics; cultural organizations, events and museums; overnight accommodations and where to dine; a community calendar and community news; information about annual events; links to our public schools, Limestone College and the Cherokee County campus of Spartanburg Community College; and other information useful to both long-time residents and to those who are planning to relocate in Gaffney or Cherokee County, or who are planning to visit for a day, a weekend or longer.
If you are contemplating opening a business in Gaffney, I would like to direct you to Gaffney City Hall, 201 North Limestone Street, and the office of the Mayor or the office of James R. Taylor, City Administrator. Mr. Taylor or I can also be reached by calling (864) 487-8507. From Interstate 85 to our historic business district in downtown Gaffney, opportunities, and prime locations, exist for companies expanding or relocating existing businesses, and for persons beginning their first business venture. Give us an opportunity to show you why Gaffney is where your business can grow, expand and succeed. We want to be your business partner!
This website is one of a number of ways in which we are happy to reach out to the community at large, visitors, and those interested in relocating or opening a business in Gaffney. Soon, the Gaffney Resource Guide, containing a wealth of information about services available within the community will be available, as well as our “A History in the Making” walking tour guide of our three nationally certified historic districts, and brochures on shopping, cultural organizations, and Cowpens National Battlefield and Kings Mountain National Military Park, both located in Cherokee County. And of course, the doors to Gaffney City Hall and the Gaffney Information and Visitors’ Center are always open to our citizens and our visitors.
Welcome to the City of Gaffney!
With kindest regards,
Henry
