What's Up ?

The Gaffney Ledger has asked CAVA members to help them with a project. The Ledger is asking us to help give their newspaper boxes a "face lift".

CAVA artists will be given $25 for supplies per each box. Some artists are donating their money back to CAVA for future gallery uses. CAVA artists may paint your box in the gallery window. Any CAVA member that would like to paint a box can contact Fred Knowles or come by the gallery and sign up.

Be sure to go by and see the completed boxes:

Fred Knowles - located outside of Rite Aid on Floyd Baker Blvd.

Dear CAVA Members One and All,

It has been a very busy Spring indeed. Our Board has begun a very effective fund raising campaign, and I ask all members to please become an active part of this endeavor. We have accomplished much, but there is still much to do. Have you sold your tickets to the Fatz Breakfast yet? This is the easiest way I know of to raise money. They give us $5 for each ticket, so if everyone sells ten tickets X 50 members...well you can do the math. It is a very easy way to bring monies into our bank account. We also still need volunteers for the "Art in the Park", and this event proves to be our biggest fundraiser each year. Please bring 6 ready to show pieces to hang on the CHAPS yard fence, or set up by the fence.

The executive committee had the chance to see our new gallery and studio space, and in a word it is "FABULOUS". They are on schedule to get us into the building sometime this summer. We will also need artwork for the first show in the new space. Please finish new pieces or dust off the old ones and help us prepare work for this big event.

We are in the process of writing some big grant proposals, and should know if we were successful in getting them by late summer. We will make the move without them, but if we are successful we will have a "state of the art" gallery and 4 studios ready to use in just 50 days. I am again asking all who have not renewed your dues to do so this month, and if you know any prospective new members please guide them to the gallery and sign them up.

My thanks to all who work so hard to make CAVA what it is, and what it will be. There are still Ledger Boxes to paint, so please join the fun and sign up for one. Our next general meeting is May 11th so please come and be part of that experience too.
